This summer, the SwissTech Hotel joined the myclimate initiative "Cause We Care". The SwissTech Hotel belongs to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), which has been committed to sustainable development on its campus for decades. The hotel's building was even designed for low and optimal energy consumption. It works with local partners and suppliers who have a responsible environmental policy, and the hotel's electricity comes from 100% renewable energy sources.
Most recently, thanks to the "Cause We Care" membership, the hotel's guests can also contribute to sustainability. For a voluntary contribution of CHF 1.00 per night, their own overnight stay is made climate neutral. In this way, the CO2 emissions caused by the stay are offset with myclimate on the one hand and invested in the sustainability of the hotel on the other hand.
As its first "Cause We Care" measure, the SwissTech Hotel has planned to replace conventional incandescent ceiling lights with LED ceiling lights in 2021.
