This is how it works:

With a contribution of between 1 and 2% on the booked offer or product, guests have the opportunity to invest the COemissions of their offer or product in climate protection projects with myclimate and make a contribution to local sustainability. At the same time, the holiday region Heidiland doubles these contributions and invests in its own sustainability. In this way, the guests achieve a double effect with their commitment.

How does «Cause We Care» work?

Company profile

Heidiland Tourismus AG is the tourism umbrella organisation of the tourism districts Walensee, Flumserberg, Pizol and Herrschaft/Fünf Dörfer. It markets the area from Walensee up to the gates of Chur via a single source. The tasks performed by the destination management organisation include setting up and selling offers for tourists, marketing the region to tourists, maintaining and further developing the umbrella brand Heidiland and providing guest information on site. As a year-round destination with two skiing and hiking areas, the region in the border area of the cantons St. Gallen and Graubünden is impacted by the effects of climate change. The holiday region with its famous brand ambassador stands for values like authenticity, health and naturalness. These are values that need to be protected through suitable sustainability and climate protection measures, among other things. That is why the organisation is using «Cause We Care» and other methods to promote corresponding offers for tourists in the region.

«Cause We Care» Measures

Heidiland e-car

As of now, guests in the region can discover the region with the electric “Heidiland e-car”. The offer is available free of charge for guests staying overnight (daily rental). The purpose of the “Heidiland e-car” is to promote e-mobility in the region.

New e-bike charging station network

The summer of 2020 has shown that cycling and especially e-biking are very popular and increasing strongly. Thanks to the initiative of Bikernetzwerk AG, professional e-bike charging stations were set up at a total of seven locations in the Heidiland holiday region in summer 2020. The locations are attractive excursion destinations and thus also increase the regional added value and the climate-friendly quality of experience for guests.

"Clean Heidiland”

Together with Mobiliar GA Buchs-Sargans, Heidiland Tourism launched the "Clean Heidiland" campaign in the 2021 autumn season. The centrepiece of the campaign was the "Füllmi" collection bag, which was distributed free of charge at various well-frequented locations in the region. The collection bag is made of recycled material and was produced in Europe with 100% renewable energy. This helped guests and locals alike to collect and dispose of their own and other people's waste while out and about. The campaign was supported by the IG saubere Umwelt (IGSU).
