Centro Magliaso
Guests of the Centro Magliaso have the opportunity to offset the CO₂ emissions of their stay with myclimate for CHF 1 per overnight stay and make a contribution to local sustainability. In this way, the guests achieve a double effect with their commitment. At the same time, Centro Magliaso doubles these contributions and invests in its own sustainability.
Centro Magliaso is a holiday centre in the middle of a large park situated directly on the banks of Lake Lugano. It offers holiday experiences for families, solo travellers, groups and people with disabilities. The operators have made it their goal to enable all people to go on holiday. Independent of age, gender, religion, ethnicity and status. Centro Magliaso is run as a cooperative. This way, the operators are ensuring the long-term future of the holiday centre.
For many years, nature has been close to the hearts of the whole team. Centro Magliaso makes annual investments in the conservation of its population of old trees, which provide guests an excellent source of shade in the summer. For more than 4 years, the warm water treatment and heating of the swimming baths has been done using a seawater heat pump. This saves 70,000 litres of heating oil per year. The energy produced by the photovoltaic panels is directly fed into Centro Magliaso's power supply. The topic of waste management and food waste is just as important to the cooking team at Centro Magliaso as is simple, flavoursome regional cuisine. Centro Magliaso is constantly evaluating and optimising its operations. To this end, participation in the «Cause We Care» initiative is important and spurs on the whole team, and hopefully the guests too, to actively contribute to climate protection.
Conversion of the Platano building (including roof renovation)
In the central Platano building the pipes are being renovated and the rooms are given a facelift. At the same time, the roof is being better insulated and fitted with photovoltaic panels, the energy from which is fed directly into the Centro Magilaso's power supply.
